CDU - Day Two (Or: Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A Pirate's Life For Me!)

8:41 PM Posted by Andy (Fields, to avoid confusion)

So we knew we wanted to go snorkling, and we decided this morning while we were all getting up (and while we were lazily getting ready Joe was trying to explain DUNE to us - and seriously I just don't get it except to say I think there's a reason why Sting never made another movie... Queetzac Satarac? WTH??) that today would be a good day.

Kellie wanted to go on the Buccaneer Queen, a three-masted pirate ship replica that takes you on a cruise around the Sea of Cortez, and then drops you into some rad coral reef where you snorkel till your heart's content... And now the pictures...

So we all boarded a boat for the second time in two days, and headed out - the Buccaneer Queen is awesome - it's a pirate ship replica complete with crow's nest, high mast main sail, and dance floor with techno music... that's what we're standing on here in this picture...

The purpose of the trip was to snorkel, so we all donned our gear once we cruised out to the reef and jumped in...

Now I want you to understand something - I'm going to show you a video, but this is clearly a compilation of what happened while we were snorkling, but excuse the crudeness as my video editing software is back in the real, United States-situated California...

So that was a re-cap of what happened in the water... complete with Matt challenging the coral to a duel... and...

...the reef won...

But fortunately we got a show on the way back (as well as lunch) that was somewhat interesting in it's own right... I won't try to tell you about it, just know that it has to do with Joe, the pelvic thrust, and a complete lack of rythm...

So after the end of the snorkling and entertainment cruise, we cirlced around on the beach for a little, took a dip in the pool to rinse off, and then...

Settled into a nice dinner and watched North Carolina beat the snot out of Michigan State. Seriously the restaurants here are bomb so far - I mean, tonight for dinner I had not only great fresh shrimp fajitas, but also baby back bbq ribs and linguini pomadoro... all on the same plate... where does that happen??

At any rate, today was rad, and even though it doesn't seem like much, but it's exhausting, but absolutely amazing and fun... and I'm getting some great color - WOOT!!

Oh, and I wanted to mention what's not pictured here today:

1. Matt and Tiffany being real Pirates and picking money off the bottom of the ocean that we later used to buy some pretty damn good gelatto... which they put in a cone, which I thought was weird...

2. Our pleasure cruise Pirate host was a dead ringer for Ru-Fi-O of hook fame, without the red streak in his hair, and him play-fighting with another crew member with duel swords and even going into slow motion at one point...

3. Our dinner waiter trying to get us to take a time share tour - seriously do these guys not have an off button??

4. While we were taxi-ing out to the sea on the BQ, a dude coming in on a fishing boat held up a fish and was being followed pretty closely by a pelican. Right as the gigantic bird was about to grab the fish from his outstretched hand... YOINK... he pulled the fish away and grabbed it by it's beak, pulling it into the boat. Why? Who knows... but it was RAD, and this clearly wasn't his first time...

Okay, that's enough for now... now I must harvest the spice...
